The PD&E was a railroad that connected Peoria, Illinois with Evansville, Indiana for the last 2 decades of the 19th century before becoming part of the Illinois Central Railroad System in 1900. To this day, crews will still sometimes refer to the remaining portions as "the old PD&E."
