The Peoria, Decatur & Evansville Railway
| Name: | Effinger, Indiana(elevation 414') |
| Mile Post: | 242.0 |
| Previous Station: | Meyers |
| Next Station: | Hillside |
| Description: | Effinger was the location of a steam shovel pit that was purchased circa 1899 from Thomas Effinger for the purpose of filling in bridge #365. Bridge #364 was the bridge over Pigeon Creek, so #365 must have been south of there.... The three acre pit was located to the east of the tracks and a triangular piece of land on the south side of the pit was leased. Effinger had a short existence, appearing in either 1900 or 1901, but disappearing in 1901 or 1902 from employee time tables. |
