The Peoria, Decatur & Evansville Railway
| Name: | Stewartsville, Indiana(elevation 477') - Telegraph: WA |
| Mile Post: | Main Line 225.5, New Harmony Branch 0.0 |
| Previous Station: | Barrett |
| Next Stations: | Poseyville Rogers (New Harmony Branch) |
| Description: | Stewartsville was important because it was the location where the New Harmony branch joined the main line. There was quite a hill to the North-West on the main that required trains to drop their train to the North-West of town if they were going to work the six mile New Harmony branch. In 2005, the Browns, Grayville and Poseyville Railway had plans to put the rail back in between Browns and Poseyville. However, as of nothing has come of it. |
